Course Overview
Every year, many workplace fires occur as a result of hot work – cutting, welding and other work that generates heat and sparks – being done without an adequate fire watch in place. Most – if not all – hot work incidents are completely preventable. A fire watch, conducted properly, is one of the most important ways to keep workers safe during hot work and prevent damage and destruction to property. This course covers the role and responsibilities of the fire watcher.
Who Should Attend?
This programme is designed for personnel assigned a duty as a fire watcher.
Course Outline
Delegates attending this training and assessment program will be given the series of explanation and demonstration which will identify what they are expected to know and do.
During the training programme, delegates will be required to demonstrate their skills and understanding of the following key areas.
- What is hot works
- Where and when the hot work is not permitted
- Introduction to permit to work system
- The safety precaution needed to prepare an area for hot works
- Duties and responsibilities of fire watcher before, during , and after the hot works operation
- Common causes of fire
- Introduction to fire emergency equipments
- Means of raising the alarm
- Introduction to fire triangle and extinguishing small fires
- How the fire spread
