Acquire competence in the theory and practice of the following:

• Conduct an effective job safety analysis
• Identify hazards
• Implement hazard mitigating control measures
• Write a job safety procedure
• Validate the job safety procedure
• Measure the effectiveness of previous JSA’s for the same tasks
• Identify levels of expertise necessary to safely carry out the task
• Measure existing controls to control the hazards
• JSA document control/accountability
• Introduce concepts of basic risk assessments

And will be able to:

• Lead a job safety analysis
• Achieve “ownership” of a JSA
• More readily recognise hazards
• Have prior learning for involvement in formal hazard studies
